Somali traders killed in South Africa
Black south African gangs armed with pistols have reportedly shot and killed two somali nationals early on Monday according to witness.
The armed gangs have sprayed bullets at the victims while doing their daily business in small kiosks in strand village near cape town killing one and injuring another.
Elsewhere atleast 1 person has been killed and two injured in a separate shooting after another group of armed gangs attacked a somali kiosk nearby.
Reports say the perpetrators did not touch money or other valuables belonging to the victims.
Often the perpetrators walk into the township shops run by Somalis and simply fire at the owner before fleeing the scene.
The Somalis claim 30 traders have been the victims of targeted killings since the attacks started in August.
A spate of murders over the past two months has left Cape Town’s Somali community, especially those who run businesses in townships, fearing for their lives.
Cape Town police have in recent months admitted that xenophobia rather than criminality could be behind the attacks
